Cab Calloway Parts I and II – Jazz Conversations : September 25th and October 30th
Cab Calloway was one of the best male jazz singers of the 1930’s – according to prominent jazz expert Gunther Schuller. Through the 1930’s and most of the 1940’s, the Cab Calloway Orchestra was a stellar jazz band with people like Dizzy Gillespie, Ben Webster, Doc Cheatham, Chu Berry, Mitt Hinton, Danny Barker and Cozy Cole – all featured at various times.
Cab Calloway danced like Michael Jackson half a century before the Moonwalk and achieved a level of popularity that made him a film and theater star for decades!!
