Ms. Frank tells a heart-warming story with drama and romance mixed in. An aptly named book to take on vacation with you this this summer.
She tells the story of two couples, Adam and Eliza Stanley and Carl and Eve Sanders, and their different relationships with family and friends.
Adam and Eve were high school sweethearts and had not seen each other in 20 years; random circumstance brought them together again at the same beach. Eliza is pretty savvy and knows her husband’s reactions to Eve are not ordinary. Years go by, Eve accuses Carl of cheating on her. Fast forward a few years, Carl and Eliza find Adam and Eve on her couch together.
Eliza is confused and missing her long-lost family in Greece and impulsively flies there and begins to think about staying. Family emergencies call her back to the States. The two couples are seemingly torn apart. However the next generation has a hand in their futures.
Woven throughout the story were many dramatic cheating accusations. Related to the cheating issue, the names Adam and Eve were a little too obvious for me.
I always enjoy stories that take place over many years to see how the characters grow and change. Eve was unsure and unsettled with herself for years. When Eve stopped drinking, her new clarity of mind kept them together and forced all of them to look around and appreciate the great gifts they had in each other.
