The Westchester County Amateur Photo Contest hosted by the Greenburgh Public
Library Foundation
Agreement Form and Contest Rules and Regulations
The contest is open to amateurs only. A professional is defined as one whose primary
source of income (50%) or more results from his/her photographic work.
Only Westchester County residents are eligible to enter the contest. No Greenburgh
Public Library employee or immediate family member, member of the Greenburgh
Public Library Foundation,
member of the Friends of the Greenburgh Library, or member
of the Howard & Ruth Jacobs family are eligible to enter the contest.
Submissions will be accepted via e-mail from April 1, 2010 through April 12, 2010.
Limit one (1) submission per person. Submissions of more than one photograph per person will be disqualified.
The size of the photo and frame must be stated in the submission and must meet the size requirements detailed below. Submissions should be e-mailed to photocontest@greenburghlibrary.org
and must be submitted in JPEG
format.
Selected photographs will be displayed in the Library’s Howard and Ruth Jacobs Family
Gallery from May 3, 2010 through June 17, 2010. Contest winners will be announced at
a reception on
Saturday, May 15, 2010.
Photographs selected for the contest will be judged from May 3, 2010 through May 14,
2010. The judge’s decisions are final.
There will be two categories, an adult category and a high school student category.
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
Adult Contest Winners
First prize $500
Second prize $200
Third prize $100
High School Students Contest Winner
Prize $100
There will be a $5 entry fee only for those photographs selected for the adult category of
the contest, payable with delivery of the photograph to the Library. There will be no fee
for the high school
student category. Fee is payable only by cash or check. Checks
should be made out to the Greenburgh Public Library Foundation.
Each selected photo must have the contestants name, address, and phone number clearly
printed directly on the back of each submission. Contestants must submit a signed entry
form with entry fee
and photograph.
The minimum size of the photographs will be 8” X 10”. The maximum size of the
submission including the outer frame is to be 20” X 30”. Only original photos taken by
the artist in 2009 or 2010
will be accepted. All photos must be framed in glass with wire
on the back. Submissions must have a white mat and black metal frame. Photographs
must be suitable to a family environment.
Photos where another piece of artwork is the
main focus of the photo will not be accepted.
All images must be submitted by the original contestant. By submitting an image, the
contestant represents and warrants that:
a. The contestant is the sole and exclusive owner of the image and has the right to
license such image as provided herein.
b. To the best of the contestant’s knowledge the image does not infringe any
copyright, trademark right, or right of privacy or publicity, and does not defame
any third party.
It is the responsibility of the contestant to obtain written or verbal release for public use
of any submitted photo from all persons in the photograph submitted. The photographer
accepts all liability from
the use of a photo where this release has not been obtained. The
Greenburgh Public Library, the Greenburgh Public Library Foundation and the Town of
Greenburgh (heretofore know as The Parties)
are not responsible or liable for legal
implications resulting in the publication of any submitted photo. The Parties are not
responsible for any damage or theft to any entry.
Contest winners will be asked to grant to the Parties for their photograph and their name to be
used for promotional purposes online, in print, and all other media for editorial, advertising,
and promotional purposes in connection with the contest without payment or additional compensation
unless prohibited by law. By giving permission, you grant to the Parties a non-exclusive, perpetual,
irrevocable license to use your photograph exclusively limited to promoting the photography contest
in the current year, as well as in the future. Also by entering the contest, you agree to release
and hold harmless the Parties from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action,
demand, or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the contest or contest prize.
The Parties reserve the right at their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or
suspend the contest.
At the contests end photos must be picked up at the Library by Thursday, July 1, 2010.
The Parties retain the right to discard any submission not picked up by the set date.
