The Greenburgh Public Library Board of Trustees is a body of seven persons empowered by State Education Law to act as the governing body of the Library. In New York State, the Library Board of Trustees is entrusted by law with the custody of the fiduciary, policy and operational soundness of the Library. The Board's specific list of legal responsibilities includes: determining the goals and objectives of the Library in order to plan and carry out library services; determining and adopting written policies to govern all aspects of the operation of the Library; preparing an annual budget and having exclusive control of all funds appropriated by the Town Board or given to the Library through gifts, bequests, contracts, grants or awards; and hiring a Library Director and a competent staff to administer its policies and carry out its programs. The Town Board approves the operating funds of the library. The Board consists of seven members and one Town Council liaison member. The Board of Trustees recommends members to be appointed by the Town Board. The members elect officers of the Board each year.

The Board meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:15pm. The meetings are open to the public. As the Library is moving to temporary locations, please call 914-993-1600 or check the Library's website for information regarding the location of each month's Library Board meeting.
