Did You Know the Library Has.... Museum Passes?

One of the most frequent responses I hear from library patrons when I tell them about a library service is, “I didn’t know you did that!”  Sometimes it’s something as common as a computer class or a one-on-one session to help set up a new eBook reader.  Other times it’s about the dozens of different programs we offer each month.  It seems that most library users come to the library for what they know – to borrow a book or dvd, for example, or to attend one of those programs – and often times don’t realize that there is an abundance of opportunity for enrichment at the library.

For example, did you know that the library offers museum passes to several Metro area museums?  Just like checking out a book, you can use your Greenburgh Library Card to reserve a date online at any of the following museums:  The Museum of Modern Art, The Frick Collection, The Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, The Museum of the City of New York, The Children’s Museum of Manhattan, The Hudson River Museum, The Guggenheim Museum and The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.  The passes provide free entry to the museums and in some cases a discount at the museum shops.  Museum passes are a wonderful opportunity for individuals and families to discover some of the finest museums in the world.

The library also offers free family passes for The Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in nearby Pocantico Hills.  In recent years, Stone Barns began charging admission on the weekends.  With a Saturday or Sunday pass from the Greenburgh Library, two adults and up to four children can take part in workshops and demonstrations at no charge.

Our library continues to explore ways to surprise you with what we offer.  Soon we will have a collection of unique knitting needles to check out and WiFi hotspots will be available this Summer.  Is there something you think the library could provide for check out that would benefit our community?  Let me know.  There is nothing about being a librarian I enjoy more than exceeding the expectations of our library patrons!
